THE DESIGNS OF OUR WORLDS: A CONVERSATION BETWEEN THREE DESIGN SCHOOLS

June 14, 2021

The industrial design programme at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (DIPUCP) invites the schools of ENSCI Les Ateliers and Pratt Institute to engage in an open and multidirectional exchange of academic thought and practice, motivated by a common interest for revisiting questions over design’s identity, and in doing so, exposing questions over our own identities. This is a collaborative effort by academics from our three schools offering an open inquiry into the commonalities and particularities which emerge from the interrelated discussion over questions of identity and design in our parts of the world; connecting themes of globalization, the natural world, future generations, links with the past, decolonization, social inequalities, technological development, and other pressing issues of contemporary importance. This online event consists of a joint curation of projects selected from the three schools which will be presented by the students themselves, followed by discussions led by the academics Juan Montalvan (DIPUCP), Claire Brunet (ENSCI) and Ignacio Urbina Polo (Pratt), and will conclude with an open space for questions and comments from the attendees to the event.
