SUMMARY:PERCENTUM 2022 SHIH CHIEN UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGN GRADUATE EXHIBITION
DESCRIPTION:Percentum 2022 Shih Chien University Department of Industrial Design Graduate Exhibition showcases 78 pieces of design works by 47 graduate students. Each participant works independently from a particular ratio in the design field. The various graduation projects\, including mobile vehicles\, lifestyle products\, materials and crafts\, and public issues\, made up a diversified exhibition. Percentum originates from the Latin word; it is an accumulation of four-year design learning and the beginning of our future. Percentum breaks the way of presenting individual pieces and analyzes their projections toward the future. We spread out the process\, leading you into these diverse spacetimes of the pieces to experience the 24%\, 120%\, and 1460% of design. Breaking the established imagination of percentage to create infinite possibilities. See through the darkness; the surprises lie in the scene. We invite you to immerse yourself in it\, enjoy all the possibilities brought by design. \nWebsite \nWDO Member: Shih-Chien University

SUMMARY:THE SPIRAL – CIRCULAR DESIGN EXHIBITION
DESCRIPTION:As the world gradually faces a survival crisis amidst the recent extreme weather events and climate change\, issues of sustainability have also garnered growing attention\, as the public that has experienced the impacts is now being introduced to circular economy; people not only respond to the idea\, but have also been involved in industry supply chain in an attempt to bring changes to planet Earth and the future environment we live in. In 2018\, Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) launched an exhibition under the theme of “Are You in the Loop?” and linked with consumers\, designers\, and manufacturers to present an opportunity for the public to transition from basic concepts of environmental protection to circular economy and circular design; in 2020\, “Disaster or Design” focused on the Earth Overshoot Day\, which marks the date when humanity has exhausted nature’s resources and services in a given year\, and discussed how to ensure balance between resources and consumption under the thinking of circular design. \nWebsite \nWDO Member: TDRI

SUMMARY:EMERGENCY! DESIGN AGAINST COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:The Design Museum has dedicated special attention to emergency designs in the spheres of protective equipment\, machinery or graphics linked to communication and information campaigns\, projects that will become part of the Museum collection. With more than thirty initiatives\, both public and private\, the emphasis is on pieces such as the contributions in face masks made by fashion designers Txell Miras\, Josep Abril with Opisso and Miriam Ponsa\, or the Gracia Mask acetate face protection shield by Joan Ayguadé. Outstanding in the field of protective devices for use by the health services is the 3DDF equipment designed\, executed and co-financed by the design studio MOS and the Aleu mask\, developed by Eurecat. In clinical machinery the developments of respiratory apparatus stand out: the Angel-Y valve designed by Minnim Design\, the respirator and bifurcator by Leitat or the collaborative social innovation project for open hardware OxyGEN promoted by Protofy.xyz. Other outstanding contributions include the MTS uvc robot which disinfects rooms and surfaces or the modular air management system\, AMS mini\, designed by FICEPS3. \nWebsite

SUMMARY:HERE WE ARE! WOMEN IN DESIGN 1900 – TODAY
DESCRIPTION:Be it in furniture design\, fashion design\, industrial design\, or interior design\, women have contributed crucially to the development of modern design\, both creatively and commercially. The exhibition »Here We Are! Women in Design 1900 – Today« explores the role of designers from the past 120 years and tells a new\, many-voiced story of design against the background of the struggle for equal rights and recognition. Around eighty women in design are showcased in the exhibition\, including protagonists of modernism like Eileen Gray\, Charlotte Perriand\, Clara Porset\, and Jeanne Toussaint\, business leaders like Florence Knoll and Armi Ratia\, but also lesser-known figures like the social reformer Jane Addams. Contemporary positions and future outlooks are represented by such designers as Matali Crasset\, Patricia Urquiola\, Julia Lohmann\, and the Matri-Archi(tecture) collective. \nWebsite

SUMMARY:VALENCIAN DESIGN (2009-2019) PRODUCTS FOR A GLOBAL WORLD
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition proposes a route through Valencian design product from 2009 to date\, focusing on a careful selection of some 170 pieces that analyse the complexity and the experimental and innovative value of this field of design. The fact that the exhibition is held at the IVAM Alcoi pays a tribute to this city which was one of the focal points of the industrial revolution in Spain at the end of the 19th century\, and to the inland regions of Alicante where a great tradition of productive industries continues to thrive. In this respect\, the exhibition is oriented towards product design in its widest sense\, ranging from objects that configure spaces on an individual level to those that enable us to spend time in public places\, through the objects that enable us to meet\, work or wait away from home. \nWebsite

SUMMARY:“HEART OF CYBERPUNK” 360° VR TOUR
DESCRIPTION:#ddHK had worked with 10 local fashion and accessories designer units and many other creatives to use materials sourced in Sham Shui Po to create “Heart of Cyberpunk – Immersive Fashion Experience”. Inspired by the history of garment and electronic retail industry in the district\, the exhibition pulled together fashion and multidisciplinary designs and arts to put on stage a genre-defying immersive fashion experience in 2020\, the Year of Cyberpunk. Riding on cyberpunk culture which is inspired by the streetscape of Hong Kong\, in particular Sham Shui Po\, the exhibition created an original Sci-fi adventure story that envisaged the mystery of future human sustainable development to link up all elements. The main base of “Heart of Cyberpunk” and Cyborg Transformation Factory has now gone virtual and are just one click away\, don’t miss it!  \nWebsite \nWDO Member: HKDC
