SUMMARY:Sustainable Design Forum & Awards 2025
DESCRIPTION:Now in our third year\, this day of knowledge sharing and collaboration will focus on ‘People and Planet’ and has been expanded to include additional workplace topics. \nBDP and M Moser and Associates are already announced as headline A&D sponsors. Plus\, the ’doyenne’ of inclusive design\, HOK’s Kay Sargent\, has chosen the Forum to be the venue for the launch of her new book and research on Neuro-inclusion. Her talk will be part of the schedule of presentations and panel discussions from the 30+ SDC members\, including Asif Din\, from Perkins & Will; TP Bennett’s Lucy Bagshaw; Lydia Randall from BDG; M Moser’s Sam Allen and Gurvinder Khurana to name a few. \nWe’re also excited to be running a series of speed-dating style workshops on principles and applications of sustainability. \nKey topics will include decarbonisation; future proofing; material choices; designing for wellbeing (ergonomics\, acoustics and comfort); circular design\, retrofit and reuse. Designed to be highly interactive\, activities will include workshops and ‘speed dating’ style round tables. \nCurated by designers for designers\, the event offers an opportunity to learn and exchange ideas and a completely different approach to ‘standard’ industry exhibitions. \nThe day will conclude with the Sustainable Design Awards. Free to enter\, the Awards are designed to champion ‘best practice’ and highlight innovations leading to greater sustainability within the office workplace sector. \nManufacturers and suppliers of furniture\, flooring\, new materials\, fittings and finishes as well as reuse operations and IT services can also participate.

SUMMARY:Design Futures Forum
DESCRIPTION:Design Futures Forum 2024: Designing Our Collective Future \nWhat will be the role of design and designers in the face of rapidly advancing technologies\, a planet that is at the point of “global boiling”\, and a future in which the global life expectancy is increasing? The Design Futures Forum returns with an expanded programme this year\, examining the critical role of design in creating a better future in the areas of emerging tech\, sustainability and care. \n\n\n\nFeaturing thought leaders and practitioners from Singapore and around the world\, the forum will explore how people – from an individual scale to a larger\, societal one – and design intersect to make a positive impact and create a better future for all beings. Discussions will also be centred around the evolving question of what it means to be a designer in today’s highly complex world\, advocating for interdisciplinary collaboration across technology\, business\, environmental science\, health\, and inclusivity. \nAcross the two days\, the emerging tech segment will explore what it means to be human in a digital world. Within the fields of spatial tech\, AI\, experiential design and tech products\, speakers will present perspectives demonstrating that tech is no longer just a tool\, but an element in a new paradigm for how we live. \nWDO Member: DesignSingapore Council

SUMMARY:Arctic AHA! Foorum
DESCRIPTION:In turbulent times\, does your purpose change? Arctic AHA! Dialogues are first and foremost a platform to share stories of local and international companies successful in reacting to changes in their environment. Be they about climate change or sudden\, more unpredictable changes. When a company has a clear purpose\, finding solutions has a strong backbone. Profit under the bottom line is not enough. Surely your company has other purposes as well. Design can help.
