DESCRIPTION:Now in our third year\, this day of knowledge sharing and collaboration will focus on ‘People and Planet’ and has been expanded to include additional workplace topics. \nBDP and M Moser and Associates are already announced as headline A&D sponsors. Plus\, the ’doyenne’ of inclusive design\, HOK’s Kay Sargent\, has chosen the Forum to be the venue for the launch of her new book and research on Neuro-inclusion. Her talk will be part of the schedule of presentations and panel discussions from the 30+ SDC members\, including Asif Din\, from Perkins & Will; TP Bennett’s Lucy Bagshaw; Lydia Randall from BDG; M Moser’s Sam Allen and Gurvinder Khurana to name a few. \nWe’re also excited to be running a series of speed-dating style workshops on principles and applications of sustainability. \nKey topics will include decarbonisation; future proofing; material choices; designing for wellbeing (ergonomics\, acoustics and comfort); circular design\, retrofit and reuse. Designed to be highly interactive\, activities will include workshops and ‘speed dating’ style round tables. \nCurated by designers for designers\, the event offers an opportunity to learn and exchange ideas and a completely different approach to ‘standard’ industry exhibitions. \nThe day will conclude with the Sustainable Design Awards. Ingenuity\, vision\, innovation\, sustainable excellence and emotion make up the familiar lexicon of the companies and brands that exhibit at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile\, which has now been proved to be increasingly more global\, inclusive and in dialogue with the entire creative and productive furnishing system. Each year\, the trade fair gives shape to its mission as a laboratory of experimentation and cross-pollination\, a place to meet\, to interface and create new business opportunities. DESCRIPTION:Perth Design Week is a ‘coalition of the willing’ – a group of people and organisations Sandy and David are leading\, working together to create this event. \nThe project started as a collaboration\, the idea being that there is a broad array of design based organisations with budgets for their own individual annual events. If these organisations rearranged their diaries to hold events in a particular week each year\, we have the start of a Perth Design Week. And that’s exactly what has happened in 2023 and again in 2024. \nWith the creation of Perth Design Week\, Perth can now take its place among the great cities of the world where interest and value in good design is celebrated with a dedicated public festival. Our city’s new Design Week highlights and acknowledges local design leaders and the fruits of their labour. \nIt’s an opportunity to recognise our design community is incredibly diverse and comprises people working across all disciplines – architecture\, interiors\, landscape\, planning\, fashion\, graphic design\, service design and product design.
