The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Community Liaisons to help strengthen its reach in Northern Africa.
Sponsored by elected board member Gilles Rougon of France, the two Community Liaisons, Hicham Lahlou (left) of Morocco and Azza Ayachi (right) of Tunisia, have been appointed for the 2015-2017 term to connect the local design community to Icsid.
Icsid President Professor Mugendi K. M’Rithaa welcomed Ayachi and Lahlou to Icsid. He said, “Our Community Liaisons are highly knowledgeable about their local design community and provide us with a deeper understanding of our community’s priorities. We are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration.”
Born in Rabat, Hicham Lahlou is an interior architect, designer and urban industrial designer.
He received his interior architecture and design degree in 1995 from the Académie Charpentier in Paris. Considered the precursor of urban industrial design in Morocco, he founded FEMADE the first Moroccan Federation of Design and Industrial Design in 2009. In 2015, he launched the annual international platform for African design, Africa Design Days.
