The board was welcomed to Nairobi by local interior design firm Planning Interiors, who facilitated the meeting. While thanking the organisers for their contribution, Icsid President Mark Breitenberg remarked on the significance of Icsid holding board meetings in the region for three consecutive terms. He noted that Icsid’s growing recognition in Africa was thanks to the efforts of Icsid Regional Advisor Adrienne Viljoen, a regional design promoter, and Senator Carlos Hinrichsen, who made Africa a priority region during his presidency from 2007-2009.

The social programme for the trip included an Icsid Regional Exchange hosted by Dot Dot Dot Ex Why Zed Design (PTY) LTD. The event provided an opportunity for the board to network with the local design community and learn more of the challenges faced by the developing design industry in the region.

The executive summary of this meeting, including all decisions made by the board, is now available for members to download from the members’ area of the Icsid Website.
