In February, members of the Icsid Executive Board attended the seventh board meeting this term in Singapore. Hosted by DesignSingapore, the two-day board meeting garnered successful results, as the organisation’s vision and mission were specifically addressed as official agenda items. Dr. Chris H. Luebkeman, Director for Global Foresight & Innovation, Arup Group (London) was welcomed to facilitate a strategic session to assist the board in the review process of the organisation’s vision and mission statements. A series of interactive activities enabled the board to share ideas that will ultimately lead to a newly directed strategic vision and mission statement for Icsid. Following the meeting, the Secretariat will continue to work on building the board’s vision into a document for all members to review prior to the General Assembly in October this year.
Immediately following the board meeting, members of the IDA Committee also gathered in Singapore to participate in their third committee meeting this term. As a precursor to the upcoming general assemblies, founding partners Icsid and Icograda were pleased to welcome representatives from the International Federation of Interior Architect / Designers (IFI) to further discuss the terms of a possible venture with the alliance.
Other local events hosted by DesignSingapore, enabled the Icsid board and IDA members to meet with select members of the design community in Singapore. An engaging evening was had at the BMW Art Car traveling exhibition, where a commemorative session was held in honor of Icsid’s 50th anniversary.
The next Icsid board meeting is scheduled for May 11-13, 2007 in South Korea. The IDA committee will convene after that on May 13-15, 2007.
