WDC Valencia 2022

Through the framework of six key themes, namely health and well-being, didactics of design, economy and innovation, heritage and identity, environmental sustainability and equity, inclusion and diversity, Valencia’s WDC programme has encompassed all disciplines of design and offered a variety of design-led events, exhibitions, congresses and panels.

Informed by open calls through 2020 and 2021 professional proposals for activities and initiatives were submitted and evaluated. There were no limits to what could be submitted as a project, which included the opportunity to study, collaborate, co-create, test, prototype and communicate a variety of efforts that promote the interdependence of the design sector and citizens.

These local projects have been underway throughout 2022, and include exhibits, workshops, openings, launches and will be an opportunity to dive into the design ecosystem of Valencia.

WDC2022 Programme

World Design Spotlight is a weekly celebration and recognition of Valencian design and its professionals. A key expression of Valencia’s merit as a World Design Capital, the initiative showcases the role designers can play in the past, present and future of the region and pays tribute to the design community that enhances the city, its community and its values, both locally and around the world.

Every week, a light is shone on one of 52 design projects, each of which recognizes the creativity and ingenuity of design professionals making a positive impact in different areas (industrial, graphic, urban and interior design). As a window into the world of good design in Valencia, this initiative provides a lasting overview of Valencian design history, as well as a space to discover the creative capacity and strength of design to promote social well-being and design-led innovation.
