WDO is pleased to announce that Alicante (Spain) and Tokyo (Japan) are the shortlisted cities in the running to host the 33rd World Design Assembly.
Set to take place in late 2023, both cities have put together exciting proposals that highlight the commitment to design in their regions and opportunities for the international design community. Bids were spearheaded by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for Alicante and the Japan Institute of Design Promotion for Tokyo.
The World Design Assembly is a multi-day event, which includes WDO’s general assembly, a one-day research and education forum and a one-day closing conference. Despite its long history of biennial events, the World Design Assembly has yet to be held in either of these cities.
The announcement of the host and location of the 33rd World Design Assembly will be made at the conclusion of the 32nd edition of the same event in February 2022.
