On 20 October,  Rado announced ‘Good Lock Mirror’ as the winning project of the Rado Star Prize Taiwan 2016: an elegant, minimalistic mirror with customizable angles of reflection. Young designer Alex Yeh wowed the jury of local and international design professionals with his creation, earning him a cash prize and the new Rado True N25E121, a special limited edition timepiece for Taiwan.

As a proud partner of this year’s World Design Capital® (WDC) in Taipei, Rado launched its first ever Rado Star Prize in Taiwan. Echoing the World Design Capital Taipei 2016 motto “Adaptive City – Design in Motion”, the Taiwanese edition of the Rado Star Prize called for entries focused on the concept of “Design in Motion”  – in other words, beautiful, dynamic objects that move seamlessly between functions. Yeh’s mirror, which provides six different angles of reflection thanks to an attractive adjustable base and copper bar, was selected for its perfect response to this theme.

Taipei-inspired design

“The mirror was inspired by a fusion city like Taipei, where the old meets the new,” says Yeh. “Good Lock Mirror gives you simple but multifunctional way of creating surprising and poetic angles in your life. Its reflection is not only what we need in our living spaces, but also what might surprise us.”

Rado’s two limited edition timepieces for Taiwan, the Rado True N25E121 and the Rado True Taipei, as well as all ten finalists of the Rado Star Prize Taiwan will be on display at the Design House Exhibition at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei from 13-30 October 2016.
