Brazil Design Center is leading a new initiative to build an Observatory of Innovation for Sustainable Cities (OICS). The initiative is developed in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies and Management (CGEE) within the scope of the CITinova project of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications.

OICS consists of a virtual platform that brings together innovative sustainable solutions for cities. There are six areas of interest: built environment, energy, sanitation – water, mobility, solid waste and nature-based solutions. The result of this research will compose a bank of solutions for the Observatory of Innovation for Sustainable Cities.

In addition to providing subsidies for public policy makers, OICS also seeks to inspire the public to lead more sustainable lives and encourage the development of more resilient and human cities.
