SUMMARY:Hella Jongerius: Whispering Things
DESCRIPTION:Hella Jongerius is among the most influential designers of the past decades. Since the start of her career in the 1990s\, she has created groundbreaking works in many different disciplines\, including textiles\, ceramics\, furniture\, lighting\, and sculpture. Jongerius’ research-driven approach has been a defining influence for an entire generation of young contemporary designers. The exhibition is the first retrospective of Jongerius’ oeuvre and will explore all phases of her work\, including her famed collaborations with Maharam\, KLM\, Camper and Vitra. It is based on Jongerius’ studio archive\, acquired by the Vitra Design Museum in 2024. The centre stage\, though\, goes to the methods of JongeriusLab – layering ideas\, drawing connections\, emphasising materiality\, exposing process\, and researching deeply\, with a dedication to craft\, colour\, and cosmic thinking. The exhibition is accompanied by a major publication\, including a documentation of the Jongerius archive at the Vitra Design Museum. \nThe exhibition is supported by Global Sponsor Maharam\, Sponsor Camper\, and the IKEA Stiftung. \nLearn more: https://www.design-museum.de/en/exhibitions/preview.html \nImage: Hella Jongerius in her studio\, 2023 © Vitra Design Museum\, photo: Roel van Tour

SUMMARY:Ánako 3D Printing Design Award for Solidarity 2026
DESCRIPTION:In humanitarian emergencies\, the absence of small\, practical tools can have disproportionate consequences. A simple connector\, a stabilizing element\, a repair component or a basic medical accessory can determine safety\, functionality and dignity in fragile environments. Yet many of these objects remain unavailable\, not because they are complex\, but because they are not locally producible. \nIn this context\, WDO Member Ánako APS\, in collaboration with Prusa Research\, has launched the Ánako – 3D Printing Design Award for Solidarity 2026\, an international open call dedicated to the design of open-source\, 3D-printable solutions for humanitarian contexts. \nLearn more: https://www.anako.it/3daward%20-%20eng.html \nWDO Member: Ánako APS

SUMMARY:Moving Business by Design.
DESCRIPTION:Large organisations – whether corporations or public institutions – face the same challenge: building services that don’t just work\, but last. Service design is more than optimising individual touchpoints. It’s about solutions across the entire customer journey and about organisational change. And\, ultimately\, about a bigger question: how can business and government be designed around the people who use them? \nDesign as a Bridge Between Complexity and Impact \nThe second Moving Business by Design talk\, on 8 June 2026\, examines how service design creates real impact inside large organisations – from the customer journey to the transformation of entire structures. The focus is on the design\, technology and policy decisions that make truly usable services possible – and on how design can provide orientation even within the most complex systems. \n  \nWorld Design Capital 2026: Frankfurt Rhein/Main \nAs part of World Design Capital (WDC) 2026: Frankfurt Rhein/Main\, the four-part Moving Business by Design series brings the transformative power of design into sharp focus. Developed in partnership with IHK Frankfurt am Main\, the series positions design as a driver of transformation – in business and in society. \nLearn more\nWDO Member: German Design Council

SUMMARY:World Industrial Design Day FRM 2026
DESCRIPTION:The goal of World Industrial Design Day FRM is to explore the role of industrial design here and now. Can a specifically German tradition in the sense of the Werkbund\, Bauhaus\, and HfG Ulm still be effective in the present\, or does this—as often in the past—rather reflect the wishful thinking of designers? \nWhat is expected of design beyond mere styling? What role do we as designers have\, and what role do we want to play? How can we fulfill this role? What constitutes a good product today\, and what requirements must a truly sustainable product meet? \nThis event will explore these and other aspects together with experts from practice and research. \nLearn more and register: https://www.eventbrite.de/e/world-industrial-design-day-frm-2026-registrierung-1742207251789 \n

SUMMARY:UCLG World Congress
DESCRIPTION:The UCLG Congress and World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders) is the flagship gathering of cities\, regions\, and their associations—bringing together mayors\, governors\, councillors\, civil society partners\, and representatives from the international system from around the globe. \nThe UCLG World Congress is the space for decision-making through its statutory track: the place in which the governing bodies of the World Organizations take the decisions that shape the immediate future of the municipal movement. It gathers over 3000 local and regional leaders in the largest decision-making body\, the General Assembly\, as well as the World Council and Executive Bureau. \nTogether with the statutory track\, the Congress gathers as well the space for the UCLG Regional Sections to present their priorities via the Assembly Track; the co-creation exercise with civil society through our Town Hall Track\, and the space for members to share and shape their experiences through the Local4Action Track. \nThe 2026 Tangier Congress and World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders\, taking place from 22 to 25 June\, comes at a moment when the solutions and potential of local multilateralism can be showcased\, leading to a networked multilateralism driven by local governments in partnerships with communities – anchored in real needs of people\, with local service provision as instruments of change and sustainability. \nLearn more: https://uclg.org/uclg-world-congress/
