Currently BRP’s Chief Design Officer since 2022, Mr. Lapointe held the position of Executive Vice-President, Design, Innovation and Creative Services, starting in 2019. He joined BRP as a junior product designer for Sea-Doo in 1985, and held several management positions prior to become Vice-President, Design for Sea-Doo and Ski-Doo in 1995. In 2001, his portfolio was expanded to include all design and innovation activities for the company, as such he became Vice-President, Design & Innovation, and then Executive Vice-President, Design & Innovation in 2008. Mr. Lapointe is a member of the board of directors of the World Design Organization (WDO) since September 2025 for a two-year term. He is also a board member of the Centre de Technologies Avancées (CTA) BRP – Université de Sherbrooke. Mr. Lapointe and his team have received more than 200 *International Design Awards. In July 2025, he and his team were awarded the honorary title of “Red Dot Design Team of the Year 2025” in Essen, Germany.  In 2022, he was named an emeritus member of the Association des designers industriels du Québec (ADIQ). In 2017, he was inducted into the National Marine Manufacturers Association Canada Hall of Fame for his contributions to the marine industry. He holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Design from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Mr Lapointe has contributed to 62 of design & utility patents.
