Torino (Italy) – Designing Connected Places is an international summer design school that will be held in Torino and Pollenzo from 13 to 29 July 2008, organised in six workshops and a design studio, and a series of meetings with design personalities.

The workshops will be held in the prestigious premises of the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, about 60 km from Torino. Each workshop will be made up of 30 students, and will be headed by a leader of great renown. 6 problems expressed by 6 local bodies will be explored: health, food, urban mobility, safety of the city, new production systems and forms of representing the complexity of the region. The leaders include: Martì Guixé, Peter Kisch, Christian Nold, Lekshmy Parameswaran, and Elizabeth Siakiaridi.

Prototyping the City Design Studio is organised thanks to the synergy between the Politecnico di Torino, the Architectural Association (London) and Columbia University (New York). 25 students will be guests at the Politecnico in Torino to conduct research on the border between design and architecture, using parametric design techniques, with the goal of creating a temporary installation.

Applications are open until 15 May 2008.
