DZIGN 2020+1 will be also be the occasion to show that design, which started out in the field of furniture and objects, has become today « a science of processes » at the service of men. It manifests itself through transversal interventions, touching all the fields of creation linked to spaces of urban community. Therefore, how can design reach the largest number ? Be a discipline with a very broad scope ? How can design adapt to local cultures and practices in order to make artworks, products, services or systems ? «REINVENTING THE CITY THROUGH DESIGN» is the focal point of this First edition, considering that the city as a territory and field of expression as large as it is diversified allows each creator to appropriate his or her mission as a « designer » to intervene at different scales of the living environment. DZIGN 2020+1 has been thought as a real journey through the city of Algiers, with a cycle of cinema dedicated to art and architecture, talks and lectures, open doors on schools of art and architecture, all evlving around 03 main exhibitions in 03 main venues : Extramuros, Intramuros and « photographing the city of tomorrow ». DZIGN 2020+1 is the first Algerian-French Design Biennial organised by the FRENCH INSTITUTE IN Algeria with FERIEL GASMI ISSIAKHEM as curator of this edition. It will bring together more than 60 designers.
