As design continues to evolve, so too do the challenges facing our world. In its growing intersection with technology, and its impact on humanity and the environment, how can design continue to be a force for good in our highly complex world?

Hosted by the WDO Promotional Member Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), the 33rd World Design Assembly took place in Tokyo (Japan) from 27-29 October 2023. Under the theme of Design Beyond, the three-day event welcome participants from around the globe to explore future perspectives on design through the lens of humanity, technology, planet and policy.

A Research and Education Forum on the first day examined the theme through a series of paper and poster presentations, while an international Design Conference on the second day offered inspiring keynotes and breakout sessions featuring leading designers around the world. WDO’s 33rd General Assembly took place on the final day of programming.
