As an architect, author and associate professor in Interior and Spatial Design at the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano, Anna Barbara has taught at Tsinghua University, Academy of Art and Design, Beijing (China); Kookmin University, School of Architecture, interior Design and at the Master Brain 21 Seoul (South Korea) and in universities in the USA, France, Thailand, Brazil, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and India. She was a Canon Foundation Fellow 2000 at Hosei University, Tokyo (Japan).

The relationships between the senses, time, spaces and design are the main themes that she develops in research and planning and disseminates in training, conferences and publications. As founder and CEO of Senselab, she has designed international sensorial projects for brands including Panasonic, Honda, Fujitsu, Lexus, Toyota, Ford, International Robotics, Fissan, Lancome, Guerlain, Venini, among others. In 2021, she launched the first Executive Course in Olfactive Design with POLI.design.

Professional Experience

Visiting teacher at Tsinghua University (China), Kookmin University (South Korea), visiting researcher at Hosei University (Japan). Research and projects selected by ADI-Index; awarded Eccellenze della Lombardia; Special Mention Fedrigoni Top Award and Premio Borromini; Archmarathon. Italian Design Ambassador in Kuwait and Sudan. Exhibited at Venice Biennale; Milan Triennale. Curator of Education for Women Empowerment Expo Dubai 2020.

Present Occupation

  • President of POLI.design and Associate Professor Interior Design at Politecnico di Milano.
  • Scientific Coordinator of D\tank, the Design Department Think Tank.
  • Co-founder of the Global Design Futures Studies network- GDFN (with Politecnico di Milano, Tsinghua University and Carnegie Mellon).
  • Curator of the programs: HERstory – Education for Women Empowerment, Africa Design Futures, Design for Ukrainian Heritage, Olfactorium for Alzheimers patients.
