The Algonquin College Human-Centred Design Lab (HCDL) partnered with Dominica State College (DSC) to co-design an environmental scan of carpenters in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Findings will help DSC create new carpentry training as part of an initiative to develop hurricane resiliency in Dominica. The project was part of the Skills to Access the Green Economy (SAGE) program. Funded by Global Affairs Canada and directed by Colleges and Institutes Canada, SAGE aims to develop technical and vocational education in economic sectors associated with climate change in the Caribbean.

The HCDL team includes Professor Jed Looker and student researchers Jane Wang and Luna Liu. They traveled to Dominica to collaborate with Dr. Hermancia Eugene and student researchers Gilmar Joseph, J’Quan Lecointe and Jaimon Orlé from DSC.
