The Department of Economic Development of Taipei City Government has announced the shortlisted entries for the Taipei Design Award 2026, following a record-breaking international competition that attracted 4,620 submissions from 64 countries and regions.
Held from 10 March to 30 June 2026, this year’s competition was endorsed by WDO and invited designers from around the world to submit projects across three main categories: Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design and Public Space Design.
Alongside the Taipei Design Award, the Taipei Impact Design Award, established in 2023, received 205 proposals addressing real-world economic, social and environmental challenges specific to Taipei. The award recognizes design approaches that respond to local needs while demonstrating the potential of design to contribute to a more sustainable and resilient city.
Following the judging process, 139 entries have been shortlisted for the Taipei Design Award 2026, alongside 15 shortlisted entries for the Taipei Impact Design Award. The shortlisted projects reflect the breadth and diversity of contemporary design practice, showcasing approaches that respond to evolving social, environmental and urban challenges through design.
The public will have an opportunity to discover the shortlisted works in person at a special Taipei Design Award 2026 Shortlist Exhibition, taking place from 9–11 October 2026 at the Taiwan Design Museum in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Taipei. The exhibition will offer designers, students, industry professionals and the wider public an opportunity to explore the shortlisted projects and gain insight into emerging directions in design.
