Valencia (Spain) 23 April 2020 – Spanish furniture company Andreu World is pleased to open the call for entries to the 20th edition of its International Design Contest – one of the most important and longest- running product design competitions in Spain. Submissions are welcome until 26 November 2020 inclusively. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, Andreu World has collaborated with the World Design Organization (WDO)® to submit the sustainable design of a seat and/or table. A first prize in the amount of 5,000 euros and a second prize of 2,500 euros will also be given during the announcement and award ceremony in December 2021.
The design must consider the entire product lifecycle with a clear focus on responsible use and the selection of materials, as well as subsequent use to ensure high durability and longevity. The approach should focus on a design that aspires to the durability and resilience and long-term desirability of the furniture. Submissions may also be related to the promotion of universal accessibility, cultural enrichment and the application of design to improve the well-being of people in the environments they inhabit.
The 2020 jury, to be announced shortly, comprises an inter-disciplinary panel who will assess the level of innovation, quality, technology, sustainability and manufacturing processes of all submissions.
The Andreu World International Design Contest is geared towards young designers and professionals, though there is no age minimum or limit to participate. More than 31,000 contestants from 124 countries have participated in previous editions over the last two decades, with submissions from 200 international design schools.
The contest rules and submission guidelines are available online along with the registration form.
