See the Ocean Smile’ is a toy collection that teaches children about marine plastic pollution and its affect on marine life. The collection contains puzzles and story cards, all made from sustainable materials such as wood and paper, which attempt to communicate the issue in a playful way. The idea of marine pollution and its impact is difficult for children to understand, therefore the toys focus on children’s emotional response to the stories, activities, and puzzles.

The event comprised of a seminar about “Responsible Consumption and Production” and “Sustainability” concepts which provided a theoretical background for graduation project presentations from each of five Industrial Design Schools followed by a discussion in which the panelists shared their academic and professional experiences on the impact of industrial design on “responsible consumption and production”. An exhibition of selected graduation projects from five schools accompanied the event and held on 24 June – 1 July 2019. A cocktail party to celebrate World Industrial Design Day and to open the exhibition of selected graduation projects followed the panel.
