FINALISTS

A panel of specialized judges including design professionals, members from the World Design Capital Mexico City 2018 organizing committee and from Rado evaluated the presented designs and selected the finalists:

PHOTOLUM by ANA CORKIDI

PhotoLum is a lamp-pot that takes its energy from plants. It is designed in modular hexagon shapes imitating the configuration of a honeycomb and which can be configured to the taste of the user. It uses sustainable and light materials.

ELFORED MDF TABLE by ERIKA EDITH GÓMEZ

MDF medium density fibreboard made with Totomoxtle (corn leaf). The new material seeks to replace wood and its derivatives and thus reduce the use of trees. This project uses corn leaf, which is the largest agricultural waste in Mexico and seeks to offer a new sustainable alternative for the production of industrial products.

SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE DESIGN

On the occasion of World Design Capital Mexico City 2018, the socially responsible design approach has been chosen to highlight the conversation about design as a maker of material life, for the benefit of urban life. Through this call, Rado invites industrial design students who are in their last year of studies to submit a project related to this approach.

DESIGN INSPIRED BY NATURE

Rado is looking for projects that pay tribute to the theme DESIGN INSPIRED BY NATURE, all the while carrying avant-garde shapes, materials and production processes, involving innovative ideas on the use of new materials that merge nature, design, technology and innovation, which make up the essence of the brand.
